About and data sources

Bharat Decoded explains how India is governed. It is an independent project and has no connection to any government body.

Where the facts come from

"—" means we have no sourced value yet. We leave a field empty rather than guess. Office-holders show the date they were last confirmed against the source.

The name beside each state's English name is in its main regional language and script. Where a state or UT has no distinct regional-script name, such as Meghalaya or Lakshadweep, it is in Hindi.

How it stays up to date

A script re-fetches each fact from its source once a month. Large changes and failed fetches are held for a person to review instead of being published. Vehicle registration codes and the Lok Sabha seat count for Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu are checked by hand.

Maps

Boundaries: DataMeet, CC BY. Community data, not an official map. Outlines are simplified for display and are decorative. They are not an authoritative depiction of India's boundaries; for those, refer to the Survey of India.

Language

The site is written in English. Hindi is machine translated as you read, using AI4Bharat's IndicTrans2 on Cloudflare Workers AI, and can contain mistakes. A short list of common terms is corrected by hand. Names, numbers and dates stay in English, and the English text is the original.
